One of the most rewarding parts of the job for the agents and staff of Frank Dowling Real Estate is helping people realise their goal of home ownership.  It’s still the Great Australian Dream, and over the past 44 years we have witnessed first-hand countless people striving towards it.

So it gladdens our collective hearts to see young people like Ayse Halil go through the incredible excitement – and, let’s face it, the emotional rollercoaster – of buying their first home.

“It happened really quickly…. I saw it for the first time on Saturday and it was mine by the Monday night,” says Ayse, 32 of her gorgeous two-bedroom ground floor apartment in Moonee Ponds, complete with a wrap-around courtyard garden.

“When I first saw it the agent Anthony said they already had an offer and were closing on Monday so I organised really quickly to see it again – of course my mum had to go through it and get the seal of approval – and then I put in an offer. We went back and forth a few times then I found out Monday night I’d got it. I’m so thrilled, it just felt like home the minute I walked in.”

Ayse is one of the lucky ones. We’re well aware that looking for the perfect place to call home can be a time-consuming exercise, but she took a relatively short six months of searching to find her own piece of Moonee Ponds. Preceding that were three years of saving for a deposit while she lived in the family home in Sydenham.

The trained nutritionist, who works in the sales team for a health food company, was thrilled to buy in her first-choice area of Moonee Ponds. “I really love the suburb – I deal with a couple of businesses in the area and I’ve really gotten to know it that way – but it did feel a bit out of my price range,” she says. “I’d also been looking in Ascot Vale, Brunswick and Coburg, and in the western suburbs of Footscray, Yarraville and Seddon. Moonee Ponds to me is all about the lifestyle… cafes, public transport and parks. It feels like there’s space; it’s not cramped like some suburbs are.”

Buying a first home can be an overwhelming experience but at Frank Dowling we’re thrilled to go the extra mile in order to make life as easy as possible for every one of our clients, whether they’re vendors or buyers. Ayse credits our sales manager Anthony Elliott with guiding her through the process. “No one teaches you how to go about buying a property so it can be nerve-wracking. Anthony was super lovely and really supportive. He took me through the contract and laid out the next steps I’d have to do, which was really great as I had no idea what I was doing!”

With all the hard work done, Ayse now just has to look forward to moving into her Moonee Ponds home in May.
